Our pneumatic tube systems, or pneumatic post systems, consist of cylindrical containers called ‘carriers’ that are propelled through a network of tubes by compressed air or vacuum. These tubes run through various departments of a hospital and allow in swift and convenient exchange of sample, reports and medicines. Objects are placed in appropriately sized carriers that are tightly closed and programmed to reach their destinations with utmost care and precision.
A wide variety of hardware and software settings are enabled for the transportation of specimens (such as blood samples, tissue samples or cytostatic agents), drugs and documentation quickly in the best time possible. Each of these items has their own special requirements during transport.
- Blood samples should be sent with as little chance of vibration as possible and at slow speed to avoid haemolysis. Modern frequency transformer control allows the transport speed to be dynamically reduced from 6 m/s to about 3 m/s.
- Emergency goods such as tissue samples are programmed and handled with priority in the system so they reach their destination as quickly as possible and without delay.
- High level of security drugs are programmed for an authorization systems and lockable baskets so that authorized personal can only take out the drugs.
